salutation

Eli Weber

President of the Israeli Philatelic Federation

On behalf of the Israeli Philatelic Federation, I congratulate all the participants in the virtual stamp exhibition of 2021. This is our first exhibition since the beginning of the COVID pandemic. Obviously, the traditional exhibitions that we held in the past are more enjoyable and beneficial for stamp collectors, but under the present conditions we have to settle for the virtual format.

The exhibition reflects the philatelic achievements of the participating exhibitors. I would like to congratulate especially those who exhibit for the first time, and wish them success in this and future National Exhibitions, and even International Exhibitions if their achievements will enable that.

The current exhibition is another step of innovation is the collecting and exhibiting of stamps, philatelic items and even postcards, which form a new class as of 3 years ago. We are proud to have several collections on display in this novel class.

I would like to thank all the volunteers who contributed to the success of this virtual exhibition. A special gratitude is due to the Israeli Philatelic Service and the Israeli Post, whose continuous support allows us to hold this exhibition.

I hope you will this innovative stamp exhibition.

Elhanan Shapira

Director, Israel Philatelic Service

Dear collectors,

During the last year the COVID-19 pandemic presented us and the entire world with challenges which we have never encountered before. We were forced to make many adjustments to the new reality. The tradition of the annual philatelic congress was broken after many years due to the restrictions which were imposed on us. The entire philatelic world shifted to the virtual arena, and I’m delighted the Israeli Philatelic Federation is organizing a virtual national stamp exhibition. This innovative exhibition will put collectors and their collections at the forefront.

Despite all the difficulties the Israeli Philatelic Service has managed to fulfill its annual workplan, and produce all the issues on time. We have some particularly interesting new issues with great diversity of themes, which were all selected following a meticulous research. The themes include, for example, Nature, Art, Culture and anniversaries of important events in the history of our country.

The world of philately is thriving despite of the pandemic, and is currently concentrating on the various virtual channels.

I wish you all happy stamp collecting and the best of health to you and yours. Hopefully in the coming year we will be able to meet again physically like we used to!

Elhanan Shapira,

Director, Israel Philatelic Service
